Tuesday: Nellie McKay Live in Concert
Quote:
Nellie McKay is a singer-songwriter known for her distinctive mix of jazz vocals and torch singing with cabaret pop, rock and a rap-inspired rants. Clever and darkly comedic, McKay layers caustic lyrics over jaunty piano lines, creating a surprising juxtaposition of conflicting moods that keep the listener guessing. Hear McKay live on NPR.org in a full concert webcast from the Birchmere music hall in Alexandria, VA Tuesday, Mar. 27. The performance will begin at approximately 7:30 p.m. ET. ... Continued at source.

I'm not sure exactly about where to go when the show starts. This is the main page for the program it's on, All Songs Considered. If somebody knows of the NPR station that has that show live that'd be handy, I bet that station site has an online stream for it.

Maybe we can all get together in a chat room and listen live together... I'll bring the beer and soy-nuggets.

My guess is a link should appear on the show's main page. Thanks for the heads up.

Nevermind what I said, look at the post below for info from the source.

Just keeping this here for future reference.

Seems to be the only NPR.org stream. It's also built into the Radio directory of iTunes under Public -> "NPR Program Stream"

Thanks Paul for coming to clarify. I'm guessing a link to the chat will be on the site when it's time as well, I didn't see one now.

I look forward to being "there", though work might hold me up :/ .

Here is a link to the photo's from tonights show (http://www.flickr.com/photos/allsongs/sets/72157600031775399/ ). I guess they are uploading them as they are taking them. The photographer is in the chat room now. Sadly it's pretty empty :/

Wow the show was great, even just listening to it. I couldn't pull away even though I was listening on some weak speakers and had tons of other things I should be doing. I'm off to do those things now! The recording of the show will probably be up soon and I highly recommend it.

*Spoiler Below*

There's a little boy that sings part of a song with her, it was hilarious! He plugs his blog on his stage debut, his blog is pretty sweet if you're into really geeky things like graphing calculators!

Awesome show. The new songs are incredible! It looks like her next album will be the best one yet.
